Chocolate-Nut Cookies
Oven 375 Makes about 60 Bake for 8 - 10 min.
1/2 C shortening (or butter)
3 beaten eggs
4 squares (4 oz.) unsweetened
chocolate, melted and cooled
(or 12 Tbs. coco powder &
4 Tbs. oil)
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
2 C all-purpose flour
1/3 C sugar
1 beaten egg white
about 60 walnut halves
Cream butter, add eggs, sugar, chocolate, baking powder, and vanilla. Mix well. Gradually stir in flour. Chill for 1-2 hours or until dough is easy to handle. Meanwhile, stir 1/3 C sugar and beaten egg white. Place walnut halves on waxed paper and brush with mixture. Set aside. Shape dough into 1 in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on greased cookie sheets. Place a walnut half in the center of each ball, pressing lightly. Bake.

Ohhh... of course you wait until I am fairly serious (fairly ROFL) about a diet and post these luscious cookies...What a cool idea...never thought about using that scoop to make my cookies uniform!! (Thanks!!) Great page...love the stains on the recipe card also!
