Very neat photos and journaling! That's a great Matthew kept at it after his friend stopped going. Good for him!

Looks great, Deb! I think Dad is pretty brave to be holding that pad for them, but Matthew must be proud to have kept it up all this while. Love the colors you used and the almost oriental look with the bright flowers.

It looks as though Matthew is quickly turning into a force to be reckoned with! Will you ever be brave enough now, Deb, to even try to demand that he cleans up his room or takes out the garbage? I think youŽd better ask him nicely or you may find yourself being used like that pad! Only joking. I think weŽve all seen enough of your Matthew LOs through the years to know what a lovely fellow he is. Great page and a memory of growing up to be treasured.

a wonderful page to show Matthew's dedication (amd you as a family for supporting him through the years)... love that the photos are wrapped in red to go with his red belt.... a fabulous lift... love the colours .. and I agree that gives it an Oriental flare for sure!!! TFS!!

How cool this is! Five years and going plus....Dad is brave enough to hold the mat?! That's pretty cool...I think it is very cool that Dad is participating as well. This will be a wonderful memory to look back on for Dad and Matt. I love the colors you used Deb. Red must be the new thing, I saw several red pages in the gallery

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. Matthew is doing great, we are so proud of him, and his Dad will recover from his bruises in a few days! LOL... Just kidding... Mr. Josh is very cool about the way he includes the parents in the classes. I would not want to have to hold the pads, (although I have done it at home for Matthew in the past when he practises, but I can only take it for a very short time, and I have not done it in a very long time, because Matthew is getting very strong) thank goodness there have always been enough Dad's at the classes to do it! The kids all love their instructor... even though he makes them do tons of push ups... he is funny, and you can tell he loves teaching the kids. I might re-journal the page and give a copy of it to Josh.

The Martial Arts are a great way of teaching children not only to protect themselves, but Matthew has learned a great deal of self control and discipline and dedication from his classes. Matthew knows that he is not allowed to "start" any kind of fight... he has permission to protect himself... and he sticks to it, which is not always easy for a boy who gets picked on because of his weight, or the fact that teenagers are just mean as can be, and they tease him horribly because he used to be an Elvis Presley Tribute Artist. I am very proud of him. He is a good boy, and if I had it all to do over again, I would enroll him in the classes again.
