Journaling on tag: Our first stop on leaving home was the public library to greet friends,check out audios for Bobbie and a book for Allison--then we were off to explore the unknown by taking back roads to see where we would end up.
Journaling on Map: Home to Whitley City....back to Pine knot....east toward Williamsburg, looking for the new greenhouse... no luck...turned left onto the old 3C road. following our noses back toward McCreary County. We found:
1. A prescribed burn (Forest Service land) and an old mini bottle;
2. An illegal dump.... puzzled as to why someone would do that;
3. A lovely, rolling field and an old barn on the plateau.
We found ourselves on Williamsburg Street, arriving at the Laurel Creek bridge where we found a cluster of butterflies and a pretty tributary going into the creek... took a break to play a little, took some pictures--the view from the bridge we called them ... turned off on another road, which turned out to be Laurel Creek Cemetery Road, eventually finding ourselves on the airport road...took another little side road... and we had made it back onto Bethel Road and at our back door. But first, before turning onto our little road, we went on to Pine Knot for an ice cream cone ... then HOME.. It was another EXCELLENT ADVENTURE.
