Poster: Mom5Kids (see this users gallery) This is another of the set of QP's I'm working on for my Blooming Blossoms Kit. Deb has us out looking for cool textures and since I already have a bunch, it is a challenge finding some new ones, but not too much. Journaling: I love textures, they are so tactile. The bottome of this palm tree has swirls, lines, smooth spots, rough spots, peeling parts, and deep crevaces. It has exciting texture; I want to reach out and touch it. Peel some of it off, and poke it to see what it feels like. I took this photograph and made it into a brush. I made a new layer and brushed all over my layout then set the layer on soft light. This created a grungier look to my paper. I also stamped the brush all over my title to add a bit of extra interest to it too. Your photo is so wonderful (and exotic!) Love all that curling and threads. Using it for a brush is neat. Lots of nice contrasts.
