An old photo of my uncle that was in my mother's photo album. The journaling reads: Unknown sailor and Joe Flem Tinsley - these two guys appear to be in the slammer. This picture was in Edrie’s photo album. I always thought it was a joke picture, but upon close inspection,and from the looks of Joe Flem (my uncle), I believe this was actually taken in jail. Joe sure does look like he was wasted here. He looks so young, and he doesn’t look like he was joking around. Maybe this was the brig -- he was in the military. Uncle Joe was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery and heroism while serving in Italy in World War II.
