The journaling reads: Around 1990 a small group of friends came together informally to exercise. Then we decided to have a "ladies night out" to socialize over a meal. Kay spotted the Ladies Social Club shirts at a Walmart and we all got one. As you can see from the insert, mine had a long life. After I finished with it, it was so soft I gave it to Bobbie to finish wearing out.
One evening we discussed a story in our local paper that a judge had given a child rapist a light sentence, while commenting that some of the child\'s testimony was questionable because she was having her period when one of the alleged rapes happened. We were so outraged that we decided we wouldn\'t allow that to go unchallenged. We came up with a petition protesting the sentence and the judge’s comments. In a few weeks, we had several thousand names on the petitions. Our petition drive made the news statewide. We sent the petitions to the state bar association requesting action against this judge. We lost, but we had made our point.
The Ladies Social Club has grown in numbers and has evolved into our Thursday Lunch Bunch.a purely social gathering, with no controversial subjects allowed in conversations.

Powerful journaling and a bravo to those ladies! You've done a fabulous job here telling the story with words and photo, and composed a truly admirable memory page! TFS!
