In the wee hours of the morning on Monday, April 26, 1999 Daddy
and I had a scare we hope to never have to repeat. It was
around 1 am when I woke up and thought that something didn’t
feel quite right. I went into the bathroom to see what was going
on, when a huge gush of blood went everywhere. It scared me, so
I called for Daddy. When he saw the blood, he panicked. He called
Grandma Johnson and asked her to come over and watch Jared so
he could take me to the hospital... The people there weren’t very
helpful at all. All they said was that I was probably losing you, and
to call Dr. Prescott in the morning. (Which is what we just should
have done in the first place.) They did check my cervix and said it
was closed. That was a good sign. I also wasn’t having any pain,
so I took that as a good sign too... The next morning I called and
made an appointment with Dr. Prescott for 2 pm... Dr. Prescott
did an ultrasound, and I was so relieved to see that you were OK.
You had a good heartbeat and were moving around. You looked
great! Dr. Prescott said that the bleeding was coming from
in-between the placenta and the uterine wall, and he drew us a
picture like this one. He said that it could heal and you would be
OK, or it could get worse and I would miscarry. He wanted to
monitor my progress, and I was to come back in a week for another
ultrasound... I scheduled an appointment for Friday, May 7th, when
I was 12 weeks along... Much to everyone’s relief, the next
ultrasound showed it healed some, and you were measuring just
where you should be. An answer to prayer! (There had been a lot
of people praying for you!) Dr. Prescott said that all was well...

I can empathise fully - sorry you had to go thru it. Again, you have done a terrific job of documenting. Did you keep a journal at the time - or are the memories still that vivid?!
