This represents two patriotic events that our family was involved with. Nick was involved with Boy Scouts and he learned the correct way to fold an American flag during one of his many camp-outs. In the other photograph, we visited Galena, IL during a weekend when Civil War re-enactors were camping in town. Some of the re-enactors talked to us about their uniforms and posed with Jacob for a photo. Galena is near the Mississippi River and was the home of U.S. Grant before he became president. The town has preserved their early nineteenth century historic buildings and is a favorite among history buffs.
This is another one of my favorite kits, I think because both of these photos remind me so much of patriotism. . I reduced the size of some of the papers and used them as backdrops for the photographs. I like the look of collages and just lay image after image all over the page. The torn paper borders are added at the top and help the layout to not look so geometric. The plain buttons are increased in size and lined up. The ribbon and coin are also enlarged to fit on the right side. The alphabet is reduced so that it will fit next to each photograph.
