Japanese_cross_stitch

Photo Details
Poster: retro  (see this users gallery)

Marcee´s May MG challenge reminded me it was time I scrapped some of my Japanese cross stitch pictures. This is part of quite a large one I stitched a few years ago.

I used the frame from a kit I've been designing on and off for a while. Art Nouveau was influenced by the Japanese style so I thought it appropriate. I like the floral motifs in the picture so I based 2 of the backgrounds on them, and the transparent “screens” are based on the fan which I made to look a little like butterflies.

Beautiful cross stitch Helen. I love those backgrounds and the frame, they look gorgeous. I am looking forward to this kit.

Oh WOW!!! What a detailed piece of cross-stitch and a great way to display your work in a whole different medium! The frame is really beautiful and pulls the whole piece together so perfectly. GREAT job Helen!!!

That is absolutely gorgeous! It almost looks like petit-point! It is done on linen? Even weave or not? Great items around it...but having problems tearing my eyes away from the actual stitching. Great job! Love the colors you have put with it, and textures...

Thank you all.

Carol, only the frame is part of a kit. I just made up the backgrounds to suit this pic. If it was all from a kit it would qualify for Marcee´s challenge.

Pat, it´s cross stitch though petit point would have been a whole lot quicker! And it´s on linen though Aida or evenweave would have saved a lot of counting....!

Beautiful cross stitch! I used to do that and it was so relaxing and rewarding. But now I have arthritis in both my thumbs and my eyes are shot, so I guess my stitching days are over... Can't wait to see the whole kit
